By creating an account or using Beshert (the "App," operated by Sean Arenson, "we," "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
To use Beshert, you must: be at least 18 years old (we enforce this when you create your profile); be legally able to enter into a binding contract; not be barred from using dating services under any applicable law; and not have been previously banned or removed from Beshert for violating these Terms.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Please tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access. You agree to provide accurate information — creating a profile using someone else's identity, a fake identity, or materially false information is not allowed.
To keep Beshert safe, you agree not to: harass, threaten, or abuse other users; impersonate any person, or misrepresent your identity, age, or affiliation with any organization; post content that is illegal, sexually explicit involving minors (which we report to relevant authorities), hateful, or that promotes violence; use the App for any commercial solicitation, scamming, or soliciting money from other users; use bots, scripts, or automated means to access or interact with the App; attempt to bypass our verification, moderation, or safety systems; or share another user's private information without their consent.
We may investigate and take action against accounts that violate these standards, including warnings, feature restrictions, or account termination, at our discretion.
Beshert offers optional photo verification, where you submit a live selfie compared against your profile photos. Verification is a good-faith identity signal, not a background check or guarantee of a user's identity, character, or intentions — see Section 8.
Subscriptions are billed and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your device. We do not process payments directly and do not have access to your card details. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. To cancel, manage your subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — not through Beshert directly. Refunds are handled according to Apple's or Google's respective refund policies, not by us directly.
Premium features (including but not limited to expanded filters, seeing who's liked you, Spotlight boosts, incognito mode, and read receipts) are described in the App and may change from time to time; we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes to what's included.
You retain ownership of the photos, messages, and other content you submit to Beshert ("Your Content"). By submitting it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and display it as necessary to operate the App. This license ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except where copies are retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
You're responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to share it (e.g. that a photo is actually of you).
Beshert helps you meet other people, including in person. We do not conduct criminal background checks on users, and photo verification does not guarantee a user's identity, intentions, or safety. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, on and off the App. We strongly recommend: meeting in public places for initial in-person meetings; telling a friend or family member your plans; never sending money or financial information to someone you've met on the App; and reporting any user who makes you feel unsafe or who violates these Terms.
Beshert is a platform that facilitates introductions; we are not responsible for the conduct of any user, on or off the App, and we do not guarantee compatibility, safety, or the outcome of any match or meeting.
You may stop using Beshert and request account deletion at any time (see our Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, pose a safety risk to others, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion, with or without notice.
The App is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sean Arenson is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to your interactions with other users, on or off the platform. Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the App is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the App or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Beshert after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
